Initiating the referral process: a crucial step in your patient's mental health treatment journey

Please create a Referral Letter tailored to your patient which include0s:
– patient’s full name and date of birth,
– their contact information,
– summary of their condition/s and treatment history to date.

Please kindly ensure you list the number of sessions allocated to the patient on the referral.

Following a client’s initial session, I will inform you of your patient’s attendance and provide periodic updates and progress reports as necessary.

Medicare Health Care Plan Referrals

As a clinical psychologist, I can provide psychological treatment under the Australian Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. As such, your patient may be able to access Medicare rebates for both in-person or Telehealth sessions. Under a Mental Health Care plan, eligible clients can receive Medicare assistance with a psychologist for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

As of July 2025, Medicare rebates for clinical psychologists are $145.25

Chronic Disease Management Plan Referrals:

Medical practitioners can refer eligible patients with chronic diseases to allied health professionals and this allows the patient to claim Medicare benefits for these services. Under this referral pathway, eligible patients can use 5 services per calendar year.
